Cabalva Shipwreck: Spanish Ferdinand VII Silver Crown / 8 Reales 1816.
Condition
The Salvors of the English East Company vessel "Cabalva", wrecked in 1818 on the Shoals of Saint Brandon, hereby certify that the accompanying Spanish 8 Real Crown was recovered from the wrecksite in September 1985. Winning bidder will receive original signed and stamped certificate from The Salvors.
Provenance
Cabalva was an East Indiaman, launched in 1811. She made three voyages for the British East India Company (EIC) before she was wrecked in 1818 on the outbound leg of her fourth voyage.
The East India Company's ship Cabalva, 1257 tons, Captain James Dalrymple, lost in Cargados Shoal, near Mauritius, 7 July 1818, on a voyage to China; Thomas Whitcombe, c. 1820.
Recovered from the wreck site in September 1985.
